Over the past eight or nine years, I have been striving to develop my own distinct aesthetic as an artist. My newest body of work is posed to demonstrate my aesthetic values better than any of my previous artworks, but aesthetic isn't the only piece of the puzzle. I consider myself to be a thoughtful and contemplative individual, and I work very hard to develop cohesive and concrete ideas to base my artwork on. One part of this step is the development of an artist statement. An artist statement brings extra meaning to an artwork (or body of artwork) to the viewer of said artwork, who can then explore within a statement the artists' intentions for a particular artwork. This can help the viewer to better understand what an artist had in mind during the creation process of the artists' artwork.
Here is a rough draft copy of my newest artist statement. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
