Image Transfer Demo at Sturgis High School
I had a great time teaching the 25 students in the class of Stephen Erts how to create an image transfer using hand sanitizer and transfer film. The students had a great time and loved using the transfer technique. Not all of the transfers came out perfect, but that is half of the fun! Here are a few photos from the demo.
Recovered FP-100c Negatives in South Africa
Of all the images I have photographed in the last couple years these were some of the most fun from capture to finished print. I love the painterly quality that results from the volatile process of bleaching the waste products from Fuji-film FP 100-c instant film. Aside from the bleaching, these negatives have been exposed to the red African dust, blistering African sun, and a cross-continent journey of smashing and scraping against one another in a flimsy paper bag. I have chosen to display these beautiful landscapes on 39"x50" Reeves BFK paper, using an image transfer process that furthers the aesthetic feel of the image.
Cambodia & Thailand
Here are just a handful of photographs that I captured during my time in Southeast Asia.
FP-100C Instant Peel-Apart Film in South Africa
All taken during my time in South Africa, these instant photos were a blast. Although they are time consuming and they don't always turn out perfect, it was well worth it! Visit my blog tab at the top of the page for more details about the photographic capture process. What fun these were!
120 B&W Film and 35mm Color Film on Diana F+ and Diana Mini Toy Cameras
4x5 Film Still Lifes, 2011
These still lives, captured on 4x5 b&w negative film, have undergone heavy physical reworking through the use of flame, chemical, and abrasion.
120 film shot in 2016
I saved up for and purchased my first DSLR camera during my junior year in high school (2007). I made a trip out to Colorado with my father and sister that summer, and I had a great time taking photographs with my first digital camera (with only 10 megapixels!). Here are a few of the highlights from our trip.
I captured these photographs during my 10-day stay in South Africa (12/2015-1/2016). Elephants and giraffe, mountains and valleys, oceans and rivers - 10 days just wasn't enough time to capture all of the natural beauty and wildlife there, but I had an amazing time trying!
Street Photography 2007-08 /(on 3200 speed 35mm film)
These photographs were mostly shot in Chicago and New York City during 2007/08 while I was a senior in high school. Below is a small selection of the many photographs I captured on 35mm film during this period.
